Club Bondi Junction RSL
In the annals of history, the evolution of The Returned Sailors and Soldiers Imperial League of Australia, later transforming into The Returned and Services League of Australia, traces its origins to the 6th of June 1916. Formed by wounded and disabled servicemen returning from the challenging Gallipoli campaign, this league emerged as a collective effort to enhance the influence of returned servicemen on Commonwealth Government policies.
The league's founding fathers embarked on a mission to advocate for the rights and well-being of veterans, ex-service, and serving members of the Defence Force. Simultaneously, they dedicated themselves to preserving the health, well-being, and security of Australia and its cherished way of life.
Over time, these noble objectives have endured, forming the enduring core of the League's purpose. The Sub-Branch stands as the cradle of this historic journey, serving as a meeting ground for returned service members and their families to forge connections and camaraderie with friends. This legacy defines the Club today, and take great pride in upholding and perpetuating it. Through unwavering commitment, the Club ensures that those who have served our country, both in times of peace and war, always have a place to call home.
In eager anticipation of the upcoming opening of our new Club please explore the rich history. A heartfelt thank you extends to Bill Harrigan, Chris Dent, and the delightful Edith for generously sharing their stories and memories of Waverley. Their contributions have added depth and character to our narrative, allowing us to weave together a vibrant tapestry of experiences that have defined the community. And thank you to Dave Jeffrey's for the coordination of all of this!
