DESCRIPTION
Variant titleLifeguard Oral History Project transcriptContents“But then whoever was on duty on Christmas day, I would do Christmas lunch for us, the family but any of the beach inspectors that happened to be on duty, and nine times out of ten it rained on Christmas day, and so they’d come in and join us for Christmas lunch.”
The Pellicciari family were icons of Bondi Beach, running several food businesses out of Bondi Pavilion. Guido’s Famous Gelato, Gianni’s Beach House & Taverna and Pellicciari’s (a restaurant) were Bondi Beach institutions, with the gelato café opening in 1961. The businesses closed in 2002, after more than 40 years in business. The Pellicciari family formed strong relationships with the locals, including the beach inspectors and lifeguards.Author/CreatorWaverley LibraryDate2008TypeTranscriptCollectionLifeguard Oral History Project
