Connection to country
Description
Scope and contents
For tens of thousands of years Aboriginal people have lived along the Sydney coast, and on the land that Waverley LGA is part of. In 1996 the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies created a map that "attempted to represent the language, social or nation groups of Aboriginal Australia." The cultural area shown as Eora on the map is the traditional land of the Bidiagal, Birrabirragal and Gadigal people of coastal Sydney.
