1959 Waverley Muncipality Centenary Plaque, Winter swimming Carnival

DESCRIPTION
DescriptionThis Plaque was awarded to The Bondi Icebergs for winning the Centenary Winter Swimming Carnival on the 16th of August 1959.
It is to be confirmed, but it is believed it was held at the Bondi Baths and all Swimming clubs from the local area competed in the Carnival. The clubs were (from north to south) Bondi Icebergs, Bronte Splashers, Clovelly Eskimos, Coogee Penguins, Maroubra Seals, and Cronulla Polar Bears.
This was also the year that these clubs formed the NSW Winter Swimming Association.
The object of the duly formed NSW Winter Swimming Association was to organise an annual winter swimming competition at which members of the seven clubs could socialise and compete formally.

Dimensions: 295mm, Solid Bronze, in a glass-fronted timber cabinet.
