Ben Davies
1972 - present
Already an experienced TV Producer, Ben Davies, a third generation Bondi man, took a job with the Bondi Lifeguards for some extra cash over summer. Working as a lifeguard gave Ben the inspiration to create, pitch and produce what would become one of Bondi's biggest exports, the television series *Bondi Rescue*. Joining forces with fellow Bondi local and TV producer, Michael Cordell, the show first screened in 2006 and has gone on to be internationally acclaimed broadcasting Bondi Beach, local culture and most importantly, surf safety to the world. While the show has contributed to the mythology and celebrity status of Bondi Beach, a 2016 study by the University of New South Wales suggests that the television program has directly contributed to an increase in surf safety awareness and a decrease in loss of life through surfing accidents. Bondi Rescue has won 6 consecutive Logies the longest run of a single show winning Most Popular Factual Program. The show has featured a series of notable life saving personalities including Bruce Hopkins, Anthony Glick, Harrison Reid and Anthony Carroll. Ben is also known for creating TV shows Outback Ringer, Show Me The Movie, Here Come The Habibs, and The First Inventors.
