Days One DCA
1970s - present
During the late 1970s and early ’80s, the world was in the grip of a graffiti craze, and many young kids were caught up in it. One of them was Days One DCA (Deluxe Custom Aerosol/Aesthetics), who viewed the Bondi Beach Sea Wall in the late 1980’s, early 1990s, when it was usually covered in graffiti lettering pieces.
What became known as the Bondi Beach Graffiti Wall started life as a place for young spray-can artists such as him to experiment with the artform. The Bondi Beach Sea Wall, on Queen Elizabeth Drive, went on to be a big stage for street artists and graffiti writers and a magnet for artists from throughout the world.
Days One says of his first Bondi Beach Graffiti Wall artwork, “It was an honour and a privilege to paint the wall; it was where the best painters from Sydney, Australia and the world wanted to paint and have a masterpiece on. In my later years of painting the wall, it was a place where I could come together and be creative with friends. I still look forward to painting the wall any chance I get”.
