The Boot Factory
The Boot Factory, Bondi Junction has a rich history. One of the last remaining examples of Victorian industry in the area, it was built in 1892. After changing hands, it evolved from a boot factory to a fashion shoe maker. Eventually designated as a community center, it has now been transformed into a Knowledge and Innovation Hub. Defined as a civic space for the gathering and exchange of ideas, it connects the community with flexible spaces, upgraded facilities, and a new café.
The Boot Factory officially opened with a weekend-long party on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 November. Events included live music, a clothes swap, craft and art workshops, a meet with the inaugural Thinker in Residence Regen Sydney, and talks and tours with architect Tomek Archer.
