Scope and contents
Black Sunday remains Australia's largest mass surf rescue event. On 6 February, 1938, three large waves swept to into Bondi Beach in swift succession. A combination of a large sandbank, and the massive backwash resulting from the waves saw hundreds of swimmers taken out to sea.
